Military Experience

I served 11 plus years in the U.S. Air Force at Robins AFB, Georgia,  Ubon AB, Thailand, Travis AFB, California, Zweibruecken AB Germany, and Hill AFB, Utah, where we were fortunate to meet many different people from all over the U. S. and different cultures and lands. In the Air Force, Patsy and I made 5 PCS moves, lived in 8 apartments and joined 7 churches while serving our country.

We served in practically every position in the church during our 11-plus years in the military. We began our adult Christian work experience here in 1970, while stationed at Robins AFB, Georgia - my first duty assignment after completing my Chanute, Illinois tech school! I worked in the 19th Bomb Wing - "down in the Swamp" just past the 19th Bomb Wing SAC Alert Pad! We joined a local Baptist church in Warner Robins and began working in our church youth department!

After a 1-year unaccompanied tour in Ubon, Thailand in 1971-1972, we PCS'd to Travis AFB, California where Patsy and I joined another Baptist church, taught our first Couples Sunday School class and I was ordained a Deacon.

In 1973, while stationed at Zweibruecken AB, Germany we ministered in 2 Baptist churches: Zweibruecken Baptist Church, where I surrendered for the ministry and began studying almost daily with my pastor and then Rhineland Baptist Church, where we were the 7th family to join that terrific ministry begun under founding pastor, George Zane in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

Upon returning stateside, we were fortunate to begin a church in our living room in C Area Housing while stationed at Hill AFB, Utah. This gave us tremendous experience before pursuing my formal education at Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Faith Baptist Church of Layton, Utah is still a beacon to the Mormon community in Utah.
