Meet The Pastor

My name is Floyd V. McKeel, and I am the founding pastor of Freedom Baptist Church of Middle Georgia! I was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee on the Georgia/Tennessee line.  I was saved the first day of a Word of Life Youth Retreat when I was 14 years old, through a mission church of Tennessee Temple University and Highland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I soon began a "Before School" Bible Study at East Ridge High School and was able to help many of my classmates accept Christ as their Savior. I married my high school sweetheart, Patsy, over 47 years ago. We are very blessed to have a wonderful daughter, son-in-law and grandson who are living for the Lord and very active in their home church.

I have served as a deacon, bus driver, youth worker - worked in AWANA Jr. Varsity and Varsity, AWANA commander and Leader for 3-6th grades, Junior Church, Vacation Bible School teacher, Toddler nursery worker with Patsy, choir member, Sunday School teacher in Jr. high, high school, college & career, married couples and adult classes and have always been active in evangelism.

I seem to have a knack for relating to men, who often have difficulty "fitting in", perhaps due to them not being familiar with or raised going to church; or maybe they're quiet or they find it difficult to make friends easily.  We have always enjoyed a faithful membership - everyone enjoying the services, activities and work days, etc. The men like having a preacher that is their personal friend, jokes around with them and can be one of the guys and still maintain the separation as their pastor.  I am your pastor, your friend, and will meet you for prayer, a serious conversation about a problem, a Bible question or just help you "mud" sheetrock. I love to get together with the guys informally and also for Saturday morning breakfasts. I want to mentor the men God has given me to be "real men of God".

I maintain my "Tennessee Orange" study/library in our home where I enjoy all my commentaries, resource books and UT memorabilia my wife and daughter and her family have given me over the years! When I'm not studying I enjoy books about WWII or a relaxing cowboy book on vacation. I like golf and watching baseball, football, and of course being a good ol' Tennessee boy - I love to watch

 Tennessee Football - Go Vols!!!
